The Safe Place Technique
A Safe Place is a place you create in your mind. You think about it whenever you feel troubled or unsafe. The place can be anything, from a cardboard box you hid in when you were little to a beautiful sunset. Anything you can imagine can be your safe place.
Examples of ways to "get to know" your safe place
- Draw or paint a picture of it
- Find a photo of a place you'd like to make your "safe place" and keep it with you
- Write about what it looks like, where it is, etc
- Find quotes, photos, and small objects that can help "trigger" you to think of your safe place wherever you are
